The project of asphalting 14 km-stretch road from Sunkasale to Balige Marasanige (on Kottigehara-Kalasa road) had commenced last year.

The project had been taken up under the Central road fund, Nabard fund and the Naxal package with a budget of Rs 1.70 crore. However, only 3.5 km stretch was asphalted and the rest of the part was developed with gravel.

Since the region receives heavy rainfall, culverts were essential for this road, but they were not constructed at all.

As the result rain water flows on the road itself. The flowing water has chipped off the road leaving the road in  miserable  condition.

Some stretches of the road are not at all motorable. The gravels of the road have been exposed and is posing grave threat to bikers as well as walkers. The residents of the region have urged the authorities to take note of the situation and do the needful at the earliest.
