The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MPs on Thursday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to initiate steps to convene a meeting of ministers, elected representatives and representatives of the fishermen from India and Sri Lanka.

The meeting, they said, should arrive at a permanent and comprehensive solution to attacks on Indian fishermen by the Lankan navy.

In a memorandum to the prime minister, the DMK MPs said a meeting of the Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO) was held on February 2 here chaired by DMK president and TESO founder M Karunanidhi.  In one of the resolutions, TESO sought immediate intervention of the Indian government in resolving the problems faced by  fishermen from Tamil Nadu.
