The Lead: What is happening in Myanmar?

In this episode of The Lead, get to know what happened in Myanmar, where a recent military coup took place displacing an elected government, and how citizens of the Asian country have reacted to the cracked and internet ban.

Ahmed Shariff: A few weeks ago, a military coup overthrew the government in Myanmar. The leaders have been arrested and it's a military rule there. DH's Akash Sriram spoke to some citizens in Myanmar and gathered what they made of the situation. In today's episode, we are joined by Akash to know more. Hi, Akash and welcome to DH Radio.

Akash Sriram: Hi, Ahmed. How are you?

Ahmed: I'm good. Akash, you have closely been watching what has been happening in our neighbouring country, Myanmar. Can you briefly let us know what is happening there, we know that there has been a coup, can you give us a background?

Akash: What happened was, to begin with, in November, the NLD which is the National League for Democracy, which is Ang Sang Su Kyi's party, that party had won the election for the second time in a landslide...
