Anumber of kids took part at the ‘Science Kids Carnival’ held recently at Brigade Gardenia, JP Nagar. The event was conducted by ‘MerryGoLearn’, a venture that aims to provide children with opportunities to build their science and maths concepts using application-based learning and hands-on experiments.

The event saw the participation of more than 300 families who enjoyed the science exhibitions and shows organised by kids. The objective of the event was to spread awareness and support the cause of water conservation.

The visitors were bowled over as around 30 students from  ‘MerryGoLearn’, ranging from the age of four to 13, demonstrated what they had learnt. Kids applied science and maths concepts to showcase interesting experiments like magnetic race, air powered monster, rubber powered cars and many innovative concepts.

Laranya and Pranav, two five-year-olds, made visitors participate in a magnetic race while seven-year-old Saisha surprised the audience with a torch that she had built.

Kanishk, a nine-year-old, explained how a potato could be cut just with air pressure.During the second half of the day, an amazing science show was conducted by students. The kids showed magic tricks with science. Seven-year-old Nitheesh performed a juggling act.

Akshitha and Hema mesmerised the spectators as they extinguished a candle using science without actually blowing it off.

Ragini and Nikhita also showed a trick where they poured down water from one glass in a straight line using surface tension.

Srinath, a parent, said, “It was very informative and helpful for kids. They explained about magnets, air pressure, water and other science concepts with live experiments. The science show was very good.”

Some of the kids also performed a street play enacting a futuristic scenario showing a scarcity of water. It was widely appreciated by parents as young kids took part in the cause of spreading awareness about water conservation.

Komal Arora, the founder of ‘MerryGoLearn’, said, “Our mission is to make learning more application-based and fun. We believe that when the kids are engaged, they not only understand concepts better but are able to apply them in day-to-day life. Today’s event was aimed at giving the kids a chance to experience science and sensitising them to the cause of water conservation.”
