President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday night gave his assent to the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
A gazette notification to this effect was issued at 11:01 PM.
Lok Sabha had passed the Bill on Monday while Rajya Sabha had passed the legislation that seeks to grant citizenship to persecuted non-Muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
