Communist Party of India (CPI) Kerala state conference which ended on Saturday has re–elected C K Chandrappan as state secretary of the party.
Chandrappan was elected by the newly elected 89 member CPI Kerala state council.
CPI is the second biggest coalition partner of opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala.
He was nominated as state secretary in 2010 when Veliyam Bhargavan gave up his post due to ill health.
Chandrappan, a native of Alappuzha district in Kerala has been a member of Lok Sabha twice and an MLA once.
His father C Kumara Panicker was the leader of Punnapra-Vayalar agitation against royal rule in erstwhile Travancore state organised by undivided communist party in 1946.
