Congress candidates and their representatives are keeping a tight vigil near the strong room fearing EVMs being tampered.

In Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon, there is round the clock monitoring by Congress men, while party candidates are also registering their presence on a regular basis.

The EVMs have been kept in FCI Godown, Gauri Nagar. The strong rooms have been named Assembly-wise.

Rajnandgaon district went to polls held in first phase of the election held on November 12, counting for the polls will be held at the same place on December 11 from 8.00 am.

The administration has arranged a three-layered security at the counting venue while the whole campus has been installed with CCTV.

Dinesh Sharma, the election agent of Rajnandgaon City Congress president and Congress candidate Karuna Shukla, registered an objection stating that shutter and lock of a strong room is not visible in the CCTV footage.

Based on this, Bhim Singh, Rajnandgaon district electoral officer and collector, inspected the spot in presence of Congress representatives and later directed installation of additional cameras.

Sharma confirmed that after the inspection, the objection raised was found to be correct and the administration is making an arrangement to install more cameras.

It is reported that three additional cameras have been installed.
