Gujarat legislator and Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani on Wednesday said that he has received a death threat phone call.

Sharing the details on his social media platform, Mevani said that he received a call from some person named Ranvir Mishra, who threatened to shoot him.

Mevani said that he was informed of the threat by his colleague who was carrying his phone.

“7255932433 - from this number I have received a call on my number 9724379940 saying he will shoot me. My colleague Kaushik Parmar (who is having my number these days) just informed me - "koi Ranvir Mishra ka phone tha aur bola ki tum Jignesh Mevani ho to tumhe goli mar dunga (Someone named Ranvir Mishra called and said that if you are Jignesh Mevani, I shall shoot you),” Mevani tweeted.

The firebrand legislator from Vadgam in North Gujarat, who is currently touring Rajasthan, told DH that his team was going to file a police complaint in connection to threat received by him.

This is not the first time Mevani has made such claims. In February this year, he had said that his life is under threat and had accused the Gujarat Police of planning to kill him in an encounter. He had made the allegation on the basis of discussion between two cops on a social media platform, that had gone viral.
