Only concern of some is what to hand over to son: Modi

Last Updated 12 November 2018, 16:42 IST

Projecting the electoral battleline as nation’s destiny versus family dynasty, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday trained guns on UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi without naming her, and said “only concern of some is to hand over (the reins of power) to the son.”

“We are concerned with the destiny of the nation. On the other hand, there are people who are bothered about dynasty. They have no concern for the destiny of the nation. Their concern is what to hand over the son at the fag end (jaate jaate bete ko kya de kar jaayen ye chinta hai). They have come together to save their dynasty. There concern is what to hand over their descendants. They are not bothered about giving something to the poor,” Modi

He was interacting with booth workers from Tikamgarh, Sikar, Kota, Korba and Bulandshahr of poll bound Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, besides Uttar Pradesh.

Modi referred to Lord Ram’s journey to Sri Lanka to underline the importance of dialogue as he asked party workers to engage with voters to strengthen their respective booths.

Pep talk

As Modi government is completing its last year in office and facing assembly elections in five states before next Lok Sabha polls in 2019, the Prime Minister did some pep talk reminding workers “We are the ones who have risen from difficulties, emerged in electoral politics even after having lost deposits.”

Training guns on rivals for “spreading lies”, Modi said there are some opposition leaders, who feel they will succeed by spreading lies. “There are some leaders, who are like a machine of lies. The moment they open their mouth, they fire untruths like AK 47 weapon. This campaign of untruth needs to be countered,” he said.

Modi asked party workers to deploy both traditional and modern techniques to engage with people.
