Former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, one of the most eligible bachelors among Bihar politicos, is likely to tie the knot after the 2019 parliamentary polls.

An indication to this effect was given by Tejashwi himself, who said that several proposals were coming from across the country, “but right now, my priority is to help my party as well as the Grand Alliance win maximum seats during the ensuing Lok Sabha election.”

“If I get married this year, I won’t be able to go for my honeymoon. So let’s wait till May-June next year as presently, I am completely focused on 2019 parliamentary elections,” said Tejashwi in an informal chat with media at his residence, 5, Desh Ratna Marg.

Last year, Tejashwi was flooded with marriage proposals when he, as Road Construction Minister in the Nitish Cabinet, sought people’s suggestion to improve quality of roads. More than the suggestions on roads, hundreds of girls started sending him proposals through the WhatsApp number that he had shared.

Last month, during a public rally, while celebrating the birth centenary of former chief minister BP Mandal (the man who headed Mandal Commission), Tejashwi was in for a surprise when a priest handed him an envelope. Presuming it to be yet another petition by a common man, he gave it to his security personnel. But it turned out to be a photograph of a prospective bride with her horoscope and bio-data. “The marriage proposal will be approved by my parents,” Tejashwi later told the priest.

Earlier this year, Lalu and Rabri’s elder son Tej Pratap was married to Aishwarya Rai, grand-daughter of former chief minister of Bihar Daroga Rai. Aishwarya’s father Chandrika Rai is a senior RJD MLA and was a minister in the Nitish Cabinet in the Grand Alliance government.
