Mumbai-based world's oldest Yoga centre located in Santacruz, The Yoga Institute (TYI) turns 100 on December 25.

President Ram Nath Kovind is expected to preside over the centenary celebration which begins on December 28.

The Yoga Institute was founded by Shri Yogendraji, with a mission to spread the message of yoga in every household. His legacy is now being carried out by his wife Dr Hansa Jayadeva Yogendra and son Dr Jayadeva Yogendra.

Shri Yogendraji had been teaching Yoga and treating people with ailments on ‘the sands’ of Versova beach for many years.

On Christmas Day, December 25, 1918, The Yoga Institute was started at the residence of the Grand Old Man of India, Dadabhai Naoroji, at Versova beach in Bombay.

"We feel humbled and privileged to have continued the service of Yoga through The Yoga Institute as per the vision of our founder, the great Yoga guru Shri Yogendra ji. We welcome one and all to the Harmony Fest, which we hope will help bring about harmony and balance in the lives of people across India," said Dr Hansa Jayadeva Yogendra.

The free and open-to-all Harmony Fest will offer a banquet of health and wellness for thought, mind, body and soul.
