Last Updated 09 March 2019, 16:25 IST

MLC S L Bhoje Gowda said that the health department principal secretary has been directed to prepare an action plan for upgrading the Chikkamagaluru district hospital to a super speciality hospital.

The recently passed state budget has already announced Rs 50 crore for the purpose.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he said a full-fledged multi-storey building will be constructed in district hospital premises. The work will commence after the Lok Sabha elections.

The MLC said the officials have been directed to prepare a project to fill water from Honnammana Halla to Rameshwara Kere to Dasarahalli Kanive Kere and lakes in Lakya region. The state government has initiated measures to instal pipelines for Karagada irrigation project.

He said the state budget has announced filling water from Hebbe Halla to lakes in Tarikere and Kadur. A sum of Rs 5.65 crore has been sanctioned for the development of canals of Basavana Kaaluve and Oora Kaluve in Ayyanakere jurisdiction at Sakharayapattana.

The MLC said proposals have been submitted for the development of roads and bridges at an estimated cost of Rs 111.68 crore.

S L Bhoje Gowda said teachers should get 60 days of leaves in a year. As teachers are made to evaluate answer scripts during holidays, their leaves are cut short. The school teachers also undergo training during holidays. All the facilities availed by government employees of other departments should be extended to teachers by bringing an amendment to C and R rules, he demanded.

He said that the services of teachers from aided and unaided schools should also be used for evaluation of answer scripts.

Bhoje Gowda said the coalition partners are discussing over the candidate for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

“Attempts are being made to admit Jayaprakash Hegde to the party. The party senior leaders are working on it,” he said.

What is wrong in fielding Nikhil Kumaraswamy in Mandya Lok Sabha constituency? There are no differences of opinion among senior leaders of the party, he added.
