Last Updated 21 January 2013, 19:38 IST

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government in Odisha on Monday assured full support to the state cricket association to hold the matches of the forthcoming women’s cricket World Cup including those involving the Pakistani team.

“The Odisha government has assured to provide fool-proof security for all the matches of the World Cup including the matches involving the Pakistan team.

We are going ahead with our preparations for the prestigious tournament,” the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) president Ranjib Biswal told newspersons after a meeting with chief minister Naveen Patnaik.

The state government’s decision has assumed significance in view of the strong protest from several outfits against the OCA’s move to host the matches involving the Pakistani team keeping in mind the recent developments on the Indo-Pak border.
