Four more file nominations for Council elections from Kolar

Y Surendra Gowda submits contests as BJP candidate

With this, the total of number of contestants has gone up to eight.

Y Surendra Gowda of BJP, District president of Valmiki Nayaka Sangha M D Shivananda, City Municipal Council member Muraligowda and Nachihalli Venkatareddy submitted their papers on the last day to file nominations. Meanwhile, Anil Kumar and Kumar submitted additional nominations in support of the Congress nominee, Naseer Ahmed.

BJP candidate Surendra Gowda was accompanied by legislator S N Krishnaiah Setty, State organising secretary Nirmal Kumar Surana, former MLA B P Venkatamuniyappa, District BJP president S N Sriram, vice-president K V Jagadeeshwarachar, Chikkaballapur unit president Sathyanarayana Mahesh and others.

Speaking to reporters after filing nomination, Surendra Gowda claimed that he will win the elections. “The ruling BJP government has extended various facilities to Gram Panchayats and this proves to be a boon. The sitting MLC from Congress has not visited any place in the district in his term of six years, which further strengthens my victory. I have organised the party from Bangarpet to Bagepalli and workers of both the districts have declared their support for me,” he claimed.

On the other hand, election observer M Sadiq witnessed the nomination submission at the office of the Deputy Commissioner N Prabhakar who is also the election officer.
