Mysore style oil paintings expo in city temple from 'morrow

Noted artist H Koushik will be holding an exhibition of his works on Gods and Godesses on canvas. The rare oil paintings sketched by Koushik will be on display throughout the nine-day Navarathri festivities beginning September 28.

S K Bhaskar, administrator of the temple told reporters on Monday that Bangalore-based artist H Koushik’s works on gods, particularly the Goddess Shakthi have drawn wide appreciation among the art lovers. His works like Jai Jaganmatha, Viratroopa Darshana, Sri Durgamba, Radha Madhava, Sri Swarna Gowri and others have carved a niche in the world of paintings.

 Koushik was moulded as an artist in his childhood days in a small village in Hunasagahalli in T Narasipur taluk.

He graduated from Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA) and served as a drawing teacher at Malleshwaram girls’ high school in Bangalore.

He has sketched about 60 major oil painting works in a span of 12 years. The wonderful paintings has been a result of his penance, he stated.

Along with painting expo, the Chowdeshwari temple would also carry out religious rituals on all the nine days of the Dasara festivities. The rituals would begin with Sri Sooktha Homa and Chandika Parayana and will continue till the last day on Vijayadashami with Dhanvanthri Homa.
