No potable water

Lack of clean drinking water and clogged drains are said to be the cause for fever. Moreover, absence of a health clinic has also added to their woes, said the residents.

Many have admitted themselves at private hospitals in Hospet and Bellary. Doctors have suspected malaria and jaundice for the deaths. However, the exact cause of the death would be known after blood test reports arrive.

As a precautionary measure, the doctors have set up temporary health clinics at a government school here. Ambulances will also be provided on demand, the doctors said. In the meantime, the doctors are collecting blood samples from every house to ascertain the cause of fever.

District Health Officer Dr Shrikanth, Taluk Health Officer Dr Jambaiah and Tahsildar P S Manjunath visited the clinic.
