Kodagu stands for Anna

Kodagu district saw romping response to Anna Hazare’s fast demanding Janlokpal Bill on Monday. Cross section of society gathered at various places across the district to express solidarity.

Hundreds of people responding to the call by Mathr Seva Samiti gathered at Gandhi Maidan in Madikeri while college students staged rastha roko for sometime at General Thimmaiah circle under aegis of Rashtragaurav Samrakshana Vedike, supporting Anna.

Ramanjaneya Bhajana Mandali members sung patriotic songs at Gandhi Maidan and kept the morale of the people high. Mathr Seva Samiti Leaders Nanjappa, Niranjan and others strongly condemned the move of the government of arresting Anna and his followers.

“This move of the government is not constitutional. We have already moved to the court questioning this move. We are waiting for the interim order. Our course of action will be framed later,” they said.

Road block

Hundreds of students of Government Degree College took part in the road block at General Thimmaiah circle under the aegis of Rashtragaurav Samrakshana Vedike. The protesters formed human chain and protested for half an hour and later took out a procession to Deputy Commissioner’s office where they handed over a memorandum to the DC.

Vishwa Hindu Parishat District General Secretary Chi Na Somesh said that youth are the future of this country and hence it is imperative to get youth participate in such movement against corruption.

“After 65 years of independence a common man is not free. Only politicians and police have the freedom of action. Arrest of Anna and team is an example to show that common man is not free,” he said.
