Poll officials, acting on complaints, have removed the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ and ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ stickers pasted on the vehicles by the members of political parties.
Congress workers had stuck the posters of ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ on their vehicles to counter BJP leaders’ ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign.
There were more than 50 cars and autorickshaws plying in the city with stickers declaring ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’.
The stickers had triggered heated debates on social media and had led to mudslinging between followers of different political ideologies.
Sensing trouble in this type of campaign, poll officials passed an order to remove the stickers.
Additional Deputy Commissioner K Vidya Kumari said that such stickers were not permitted as they led to law and order problem.
“Leaders of the both parties had responded to our order and removed the stickers,” she added.
Complaints
Sources said that the poll officials had received many complaints from both the parties about the ‘Chowkidar’ stickers.
Following complaints, the ADC had instructed poll officials and RTO to take immediate action.
