Sibal challenges Modi for debate

Last Updated 01 November 2013, 21:40 IST

The BJP believes that the personalised attacks on their PM candidate Narendra Modi is not able to pick ears on the ground with a fresh barrage coming from Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal who has now accused the Gujarat CM of indulging in the “politics of lies” and challenged him to a debate.

Kapil Sibal, who held a press conference on Friday, to mount his attack on the BJP’s PM nominee, has stated that Modi who is talking about bringing black money back into the country should tell the world who is funding his political rallies.

The BJP leaders are of the view that the Congress is attempting a negative political discourse which is at variance to the public mood that is looking for answers to the economic mess, shrinking jobs and leadership crisis. And since the Congress-led UPA has orchestrated it through their regime it has no option but to drag the debate to rhetoric.

The BJP has stated that the Congress is “rattled by the unprecedented support” Modi is getting. "The response to all of Modi's contact programmes and large rallies is unprecedented,” senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said.
