Women following different faiths wore Hijab and took part in a sit-in at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday against what they claimed was "singling out of Muslim women" by police during recent protests against the citizenship law in the national capital. Delhi HC asks WhatsApp, Google to provide information sought by police
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked WhatsApp and Google to preserve and provide information related to the JNU violence to police.
The court also asked police to seize at the earliest phones of members of two WhatsApp groups on which the January 5 violence was allegedly coordinated. Justice Brijesh Sethi directed the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration to provide at the earliest the CCTV footage of the violence sought by police. (PTI)

Delhi Police asks 49 people included in sting operation to join probe
The Delhi Police's crime branch probing the JNU violence said on Sunday that it has sent notices to 49 people, including Akshat Awasthi and Rohit Shah who featured in a sting operation conducted by a TV news channel, to join the investigation.
Awasthi and Shah are first year students of Jawaharlal Nehru University. They have been sent notices to join the probe, officials said. (PTI)

Don't hike fee: Panel recommends to resolve JNU crisis
A three-member high powered committee (HPC), set up by the government to resolve the crisis in the JNU, had recommended for “putting off” revision of the hostel fee till the next academic session to restore normalcy in the campus.
JNU's registration deadline for 2020 Winter Semester has been extended up to January 15, 2020, without any late fine.

Posters blaming four academicians for JNU violence spring up on two varsity hostels walls
The walls of Sabarmati and Periyar hostels in JNU were on Friday found plastered with a slew of posters accusing three varsity professors and one of Delhi University of being behind the January 5 violence on the campus by masked hooligans.
The four professors who have been accused in the posters of being behind the violence are Tapan Kumar Bihari and Prakash Chandra Sahoo of JNU besides its chief proctor Dhananjay Singh. The fourth professor blamed in posters is DU's Abhinav Prakash, a former JNU student. (PTI)

72 hours later, none arrested in JNU violence case
Three days have gone by after the violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) but not a single arrest has been made in the case even as government officials on Wednesday said police is close nabbing some of the "masked goons" who ran riot in the campus, injuring at least 35 students and teachers.
Officials said investigators in Delhi Police have got vital leads about the attackers and some of them have been "positively" identified. While students alleged that the ABVP activists have carried out the attack, a little-known Hindutva outfit Hindu Raksha Dal had taken "full responsibility" for the violence in the campus on Sunday.

FIRs registered against Ghosh while JNU attack was on
When a reign of terror was unleashed by "masked goons" in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Sunday, Delhi Police registered two cases against varsity students union president Aishe Ghosh, who was badly injured in the attack, within a span of five minutes.
The registration of cases on two separate complaints against Ghosh and other students filed by JNU security department on January 3 and January 4 were registered on Sunday night when the violence was on, triggering questions about the motive behind the timing.

The Congress on Monday accused the government of harboring enmity with the youth of the country and said violence in the JNU campus reminded it of the Nazi rule. JNU violence: Delhi Police holds meeting with students, teachers
Delhi Police PRO M S Randhawa held a meeting with a delegation of students and teachers after violence broke out at the Jawaharlal Nehru University here, officials said on Monday.
A delegation comprising students and teachers from JNU, Jamia and Delhi University submitted an application to the Delhi Police PRO with four demands, including urgent medical assistance to injured students and arrest of the accused behind the violence. "The police have assured us that they will look into the matter and our demands," president Federation of Central University teachers' associations Rajib Ray said.

TheJNUon Sunday night said students opposing the semester registration process "moved aggressively" in a bid to stop those supporting the process, triggering a clash, while "masked miscreants" carrying sticks and rods went on a rampage in hostel rooms.
It warned that those who were "trying to disrupt peaceful academic atmosphere of campus will not be spared" and said it is filing a police complaint to bring the culprits to book.
Explaining how scuffles turned violent, it said those who had registered in the winter semester wanted to enter the school buildings but they were physically prevented by students agitating against the hostel fee hike.

Peace has been restored in the Jawaharlal Nehru University after masked men armed with sticks attacked students and teachers, and damaged property on the campus, prompting the administration to call in police that conducted a flag march, an officer said.
"We were informed that there was a clash between two groups of students. TheJNUadministration sought police assistance from us in writing," Joint Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Anand Mohan said.

A large group of masked men, armed with iron rods and batons, entered the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Sunday evening and beat up students who have been protesting against the hostel fee hike, CAA, NRC and NPR.
"Our team of doctors, nurses & medical volunteers who reached JNU to give first aid to injured students & teachers, was attacked by hundreds of goons. Mob manhandled doctors, nurses & threatened them. Our ambulance’s glass & windows broken, this is totally inhuman & insane," alleges AIIMS doctorHarjit Singh Bhatti.
"We have spoken to JNU VC as well as police officials to ensure peace is maintained on campus,"HRD officials told PTI.
