Assembly Elections 2024 Highlights: Over 69% voter turnout in Arunachal, peaceful polling in Sikkim with 67.95% recorded
An estimated 67.95 per cent of the 4.64 lakh voters exercised their franchise as polling for the 32-member assembly passed off peacefully in Sikkim on Friday, officials said as the final numbers started pouring in while Arunachal Pradesh registered 69.40 per cent polling till 5pm as the Lok sabha elections kicked off with the first phase. There are differences between turnouts of Lok Sabha and assembly polls as a number of voters did not take part in both elections. Long queues of voters were seen at several polling booths in Sikkim even after 5pm. Interestingly, the ruling BJP has already secured 10 Assembly seats uncontested out of the 60-member assembly in India's 'land of the rising sun'. The result of the assembly elections will be declared on June 2. That's all for today, we will be back with more updates as we await other phases of elections. Thank you and goodnight!
