The counting of votes for the high stake by-polls to three Assembly segments in Karnataka, which witnessed a fierce fight between the ruling Congress and a combative BJP-JD(S) alliance, will take place on Saturday.
By-election to Sandur, Shiggaon and Channapatna Assembly segments were held on November 13.
For JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, it will be a battle of prestige as his son Nikhil is testing his electoral fortunes from Channapatna after he lost the previous two elections.
In Shiggaon, BJP's Bharath Bommai, son of Basavaraj Bommai was in contest against Congress' Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan.
Sandur, the Congress stronghold has not been ever won by the saffron party and if the fortunes reverse this time, it could also mean a reversal in fate for former mining barron G Janardhan Reddy due to his conflicted history with the region in the past. Bellary MP Tukaram's wife E Annapurna of Congress contested from the seat vacated by her husband this time.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is making her poll debut from Wayanad, a seat that was earlier represented in the Lok Sabha by her brother, Rahul Gandhi.

However, the election process was marred by sporadic incidents of violence, including a crude bomb attack in Bhatpara, near the Naihati Assembly constituency, which claimed the life of a local TMC worker.
Five of these seats are located in the TMC's stronghold in south Bengal, while Madarihat, won by the BJP in 2021, remains a saffron bastion in the north. (PTI)
