Coronavirus news highlights: Sharjeel Imam tests positive for Covid-19India on Tuesday recorded a single-day spike of 37,148 fresh cases and 587 deaths taking the tally over 11.55 lakh with the toll climbing to 28,084. The number of active cases stands at 4,02,529 active cases while 7,24,578 have been discharged/migrated so far.   1. 7188 patients discharged today; 1,82,217 Covid-19 patients discharged after full recovery until today; Recovery rate in the state is 55.72% 8369 new cases in the state today
  2. 246 Covid-19 deaths reported in the state today. Case fatality rate in the state: 3.75%
  3. Out of 16,40,644 laboratory samples, 3,27,031 have been tested positive (19.93%) forCovid-19 until today.
  4. Currently, 7,79,676 people are in home quarantine and 45,077 people are in institutional quarantine.

COVID-19 tally crosses 50,000-mark in Pune

The number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra's Pune district crossed the 50,000-mark after 473 more people tested positive for the disease, a health official said on Monday.

The district now has total 51,885 COVID-19 cases, while the death toll due to the disease has reached 1,343, the official said.

Saudi hosts G20 talks on virus recovery, debt crisis

G20 finance ministers and central bankers are set to hold talks Saturday aimed at spurring global economic recovery from a coronavirus-triggered recession amid growing calls to widen debt relief for crisis-hit poor countries.

Hetero Healthcare starts supply of generic remdesivir

Hetero Healthcare Ltd is supplying 60,000 vials of Covifor, generic version of remdesivir injection in the country from July 13 to 20, the company website said. Covifor is the first generic brand of remdesivir, which is meant for treatment of Covid-19 patients that are adults and children, hospitalised with severe symptoms of the disease. The drug is available in 100 mg vial (Injectable). It needs to be administered intravenously in a hospital, critical care setting, under the supervision of a registered medical practitioner. (PTI)

Daily growth rate of coronavirus cases declined to 3.24%: Government

The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients has increased to 63.20%. The recoveries/deaths ratio is 96.05:3.95 now, says the Ministry of Health.
